Prospectus for Juried Call

Following on the acclaim and success of their recent Water Works show, Porch Gallery Ojai and The Venice Institute of Contemporary Art (ViCA) present Water Works II, an international juried exhibition from May 9 through June 8, 2015. Water Works II is broadly focused on the myriad issues related to water - from its beauty, its scarcity, its importance to human life, the politics of it, to its environmental issues and beyond.

Terms of Entry for Entrants:

By submitting this application and Paypal payment, the Artist confirms he or she has read and agree to the conditions set forth in this prospectus.


$30 for one to three entries. Additional entries $10 each; maximum six entries. All fees are non-refundable and payable through: PayPal which accepts credit and debit cards or Check payable to:

Checks must be postmarked on or before Feb 24, 2015. Please include the artist’s name along with a copy of the entry form. Your work will be accepted when your check has been received.

Digital Files

Submitted work must be at least 600px wide . Submitted work should be correctly oriented (vertical or horizontal). For two- dimensional work, one digital image per entry. Three-dimensional work may have three views per entry.

Accepted artists will be required to submit high resolution, print quality images for use in the catalog and promotional materials.

Sales of Art

There is a 50% commission to Porch gallery Ojai on sales during the exhibition and 30 days subsequent to the close of the exhibition. No work may be removed from the gallery until the close of the exhibition. Porch Gallery Ojai will mail a check for sold items to the artist within three weeks after the end of the exhibition.

Delivery and pickup of artwork

All shipped artwork must be received by April 26th. Work must be sent in reusable packaging with no styrofoam packing peanuts. Porch Gallery Ojai is not responsible for damage caused in transit. Artists are responsible for the cost of shipping and arranging prepaid shipping labels with either UPS for FedEx. It is mandatory to include prepaid shipping labels with your artwork or your work will not be exhibited. Attach entry labels to the back of your artwork.

Hand delivery and pickup address is Porch Gallery Ojai, 310 E. Matilija St, Ojai, Ca 93023. Please call 805-620-7589 to setup an appointment. Pick up of artwork at conclusion of show must be completed by June 14, 2015.


Frames, mats and wiring must be professional quality. No saw-tooth hangers. Wiring must be in good condition and substantial enough for the weight of the artwork. Two-dimensional works on paper must be framed and under Plexiglas. Delivered work must match the image juried. Substitutions of accepted works will not be allowed. All accepted work must remain at the gallery for the duration of the exhibit. Prices quoted on the entry form may not be changed after acceptance.

Delivered artwork will be examined by the Directors of the Porch Gallery Ojai and their condition will be noted and signed off by staff. Works not gallery-ready, works that differ significantly from entry images, suffer substandard presentation or are replicas of the original artwork will be disqualified.

Insurance and Liability
Artist is responsible for insurance during shipping. Venue agrees to treat Work with the same degree of care as it treats its own property. Work will be insured under Venue's building and/or business policy while work is on premises.

Agreement and release
By submitting this application and Paypal payment, the Artist confirms he or she has read and agrees to the conditions set forth in this prospectus. Permission is granted to Porch Gallery Ojai to photograph and/or use digital images of works for catalog, education, documentation or publicity purposes in print, video, electronic or internet formats. The Artist hereby releases and discharges representatives, employees and volunteers of the Porch Gallery Ojai from any and all claims occasioned by loss or damages of said work while in the possession of Porch Gallery Ojai.


Applicants will be notified via email on March 17, 2015. A list of the accepted artists will be posted on our website at www.porchgalleryojai.com after Feb. 16, 2015.


Art submitted, but not properly framed will not be accepted. Canvas works may be without a formal frame, but all edges must be finished and contain no visible staples, smudges or drips. Works that need protection should be under Plexiglas®. Glass may be used only when work measures no more than 18” x 24” (432 sq. in.). All framing should be of gallery quality and presented in a professional manner.
